Dr. McCloskey is well known for his lively and informative presentations on assessment and interpretation of executive functions, the neuropsychology of learning, the use and interpretation of cognitive and academic assessment instruments, and his ability to link complex executive functions to practical strategies appropriate for educational therapy and classroom interventions. This seminar, held last year in Los Angeles, was so well received that we are delighted to offer this opportunity for advanced training with Dr. McCloskey on the East Coast.

SEMINAR AGENDA

 Saturday, October 4 - 9 AM-4 PM

Sunday, October 5   - 9 AM-4 PM

Topics:

Communicating Results from Cognitive Test Batteries Using a Process-Oriented Perspective

Participants will learn to:

  1. Describe an information-processing model that can be used to guide understanding of what various subtests and composites are measuring.
  2. List process-oriented approaches for interpreting WISC-IV/WAIS-III and WJ-III test performance.
  3. Describe effective ways to present assessment findings to clients.
  4. Determine the role that executive functions play on performance during various test tasks.
  5. Formulate interventions that are directly linked to test performance.

 

Topics:

Formal and Informal Techniques for Assessing Executive Function Capacities and Strategies for Developing Interventions

Participants will learn to:           

  1. Utilize informal methods for assessing executive functions.
  2. Describe formal assessments specifically designed to assess executive functions.
  3. List methods for interpreting the involvement of executive functions in the performance of cognitive assessment tasks.
  4. Interpret the involvement of executive functions in the performance of academic assessment tasks.
  5. Implement cognitive strategy intervention techniques that focus on increasing executive function use.

CANCELLATION POLICY

All cancellation requests must be in writing. Cancellations received by September 19, 2008 will be subject to a $25 processing fee.  No refunds will be made after September 19.
