This most popular three credit course completes the ETI Tier 1 course requirements. Additionally, it is perfect for AET Associate, Professional, and BCET members who want to focus on the therapeutic process from the interpersonal world of both client and therapist.
Explore the nuts and bolts of the clinical practice AND:
- Recognize and explore the developmental stages of the educational therapy process
- Describe ways in which the client’s psychosocial context impacts the process
- Analyze clinical case material for techniques which facilitate interpersonal connection and trust
- Demonstrate knowledge of interventions and goal setting in keeping with the contextual world of the client
- Determine techniques for recognizing and dealing with ethical issues in practice
- Design a practice to best suit personal and professional goals
- Address business and ethical issues.
This third course facilitates the process of establishing a professional practice as an educational therapist from client intake through termination and beyond. The role of “Ombudsman” is explored as it relates to assisting clients in meeting their unique goals given their psychosocial needs within family, school, community, and culture.
The distinctive feature of this course is the continual focus on the intra and interpersonal worlds of the client, the client’s family and school environment, and the educational therapist.
Dates: June 27 (4PM - 6PM); June 28 & 29 (8AM - 5PM); August 9 & 10 (8AM - 5PM); plus 5 additional hours of web discussion and a take home final exam.
