As a new educational therapist just beginning your practice, you will need to consider the best way to insure yourself and your practice against possible misfortunes or accidents that can physically happen. You also need to be insured against liability, errors and omissions that can happen in your work and the work that you do with your clients. Educational therapists who work as sole practitioners from home offices may be able to add a business insurance waiver to their home insurance policy. Please speak with your homeowner insurance professional about available options.

Insurance companies also offer small business insurance for educational therapists so please look for insurance providers in your area. Once you become a Professional Member through AET, Professional Liability insurance is available to purchase as a membership benefit.

Professional Liability Insurance

Professional liability insurance is available for Professional Members and Board Certified Educational Therapists (BCET®) through Forrest T. Jones & Co. The Private Practice Professional Liability Plan covers you from liability arising out of those professional education activities for which you have received formal specialized training.

Group Health Insurance

In response to members’ requests for information concerning access to group health insurance, the National Association for the Self-Employed (www.nase.com) provides options for group healthcare coverage for self-employed individuals. NASE offers insurance through MegaLife and Health Insurance Corporation.

Description: In this webinar, participants will go behind the scenes to explore how carefully crafted prompts can help generate content that is accurate, age-appropriate, appropriately challenging, engaging, and aligned with instructional goals. Through real-world examples from the presenter’s practice, participants will see the prompts used, examine AI-generated outputs, and follow the process of refining those outputs to better meet a learner’s specific needs.

Rather than asking AI to create the game or activity, this webinar focuses on using generative AI as a content-generation tool within educator-designed activities. Participants will learn practical strategies for writing more effective prompts, personalizing AI-generated content, troubleshooting less-than-useful outputs, and applying professional judgment to ensure that the resulting content is accurate, appropriate, and instructionally purposeful.

Presenter Bio: Bonnie Massimino, M.Ed., BCET, is a Board Certified Educational Therapist, certified reading specialist, ADHD Certified Educator (ADHD-CE), and Certified Autism-Informed Professional (ASDI). In private practice since 2004, she supports neurodiverse learners of all ages in reading, math, and executive functioning. Bonnie is known for thoughtfully personalizing games, interactive activities, and digital tools to engage learners and reinforce skills in meaningful ways.   1. Identify the essential elements of an effective AI prompt for generating individualized instructional content.
  2. Develop prompts that incorporate specific learning objectives, learner characteristics, interests, and instructional constraints.
  3. Generate customized content—including questions, examples, scenarios, practice items, and game materials—for educator-designed learning games and activities.
  4. Revise and refine prompts based on AI-generated outputs to obtain more targeted, engaging, and instructionally appropriate content that is developmentally appropriate, aligns with instructional goals, and is suitable for an individual learner.
