As a new educational therapist just beginning your practice, you will need to consider the best way to insure yourself and your practice against possible misfortunes or accidents that can physically happen. You also need to be insured against liability, errors and omissions that can happen in your work and the work that you do with your clients. Educational therapists who work as sole practitioners from home offices may be able to add a business insurance waiver to their home insurance policy. Please speak with your homeowner insurance professional about available options.

Insurance companies also offer small business insurance for educational therapists so please look for insurance providers in your area. Once you become a Professional Member through AET, Professional Liability insurance is available to purchase as a membership benefit.

Professional Liability Insurance

Professional liability insurance is available for Professional Members and Board Certified Educational Therapists (BCET®) through Forrest T. Jones & Co. Group Health Insurance

In response to members’ requests for information concerning access to group health insurance, the National Association for the Self-Employed (www.nase.com) provides options for group healthcare coverage for self-employed individuals. NASE offers insurance through MegaLife and Health Insurance Corporation.
