AET coordinates with several universities to provide programs for the training of educational therapists. California State University Northridge (CSUN) offers both a Master of Arts Degree in Educational Therapy and an Advanced Study in Educational Therapy Post-Master’s Certificate. Notre Dame De Namur University (NDNU) MA ET Program, formerly the Holy Names University Educational Therapy Program, offers a wholly online Masters of Arts in Educational Therapy. Applicants with an M.A. in a related field, may apply to NDNU for the Certificate in Educational Therapy part of the MA ET Program . AET has also coordinated with the University of California, Santa Cruz Extension to offer an Educational Therapy certificate (UCSCx does not have a Master’s option, which is required for Professional Membership).
These programs are designed to meet the academic requirements for Associate ET membership, as well as to provide advanced training for practicing educational therapists. The courses have been developed with the approval of AET and are offered for individuals who have an advanced degree and/or credential in education, special education, learning disabilities, speech/language, psychology, or related fields. Admission to a training program is based upon one’s background in education or learning disabilities. For those without a special education background, the certificate courses must be combined with specific electives to fulfill the academic requirements for Associate-level membership in AET.
